As a Kindergarten teacher, I will encourage all children to reach their full potential by providing a safe and nurturing environment where shared experiences are enriched to help all scholars reach for the stars!
We are almost done with our unit on natural resources.
Today I gave them an experience where they had to take a potted plant and remove all the soil. Then I asked them to put the flower back in the pot and to make it stand in the pot. I did not give them any other instructions. I wanted them to figure it out! After a time of playing in the soil and with the plant they started to figure it out.
Click on the link next to the magnifying glasses for what they "figured" out.
Group 1 had just finished "playing around in the soil and knew what they needed to do - but had not done it yet.
We had so much fun
yesterday! It was
Mrs. K's annual gingerbread house making day. We all started with graham
crackers, icing, and plastic knives. Our first assignment - make a house with at
least 4 walls and a roof. That was not as easy as it sounds! We learned about teamwork, cooperation, listening to
others and that was just the start. We also learned the true meaning of "If you
can't make a mistake, you can't make anything!" Those silly things kept falling
down and we kept trying to make them stand up. It took a lot of tries and some
opportunities for improvement. But in the end, we all had something we worked
very hard to achieve and were very proud of. Mrs.K. saw a lot if
architects, engineers, interior decorators, pastry chefs,
motivational speakers, and leaders today. Most of all Mrs.K. saw kids
having fun and learning soooo much!!!!!!!! Enjoy the video of our afternoon!
The classroom is ready and I have now met my new scholars. It is going to be a fabulous year! My scholars and their families are wonderful. We are going to have a great year! Here are some pictures of our new classroom.
It is the start of August and most teachers are getting their classrooms ready for the next school year. Here is a sneak peak into to set up of my classroom this year.
This is what the room looks like when I come to school after summer vacation! Lots of work to do to get it ready for Meet the teacher!
These are my two sons helping me in my classroom. Every year they help get my classroom ready and I am so thankful for the help. Jon is the one with the orange shirt and Daniel is the one with blue.
It is starting to take shape. There is a lot more work to do before school starts.
Today we read the story The Ant and the Grasshopper. After the story we had a choice to make - Do I want to be the grasshopper or the ant? Then we drew a picture of what we would do if we were that character. Mrs. K then asked us what character we chose and why we chose it.
This afternoon we learned a new math game called grab bag addition. We played as partners first and then we added it to our math stations.
